It's official! Counting down from 365

One year from today, on July 3, 2010, this darned journey begins. Although it's still a year away, I feel like there's still so much to do. Perhaps I'm just addicted to stress!
Just finished shining up Cheeto from recent rides and realized that while I had thoughts of changing bikes prior to this trip and getting something bigger/newer, I really think I'll enjoy spending time on Cheeto. We've been through a lot together, and it would be wrong to abandon her now.
On the other hand, depending on how 6,100 miles treats her on this trip, perhaps she'll have to retire after it's over. And maybe I will too!

  2. I'll make you a deal...I'll answer the question, then you tell me who you are..."anonymous" sounds so spooky.

I named her Cheeto for a few reasons: 1. She's orange. 2. Coincidentally, one of my favorite snacks are Cheeto's, which ALSO happen to be orange. 3. Cheetahs are fast (and Cheeto/Cheetah goes along with that). 4. I'm cheesy. So are Cheetos. It's a match made in snack-food heaven.

It was love at first ride. I hadn't even heard of the "Sabre" when I saw her at a dealership. The dealer was selling her on consignment and she just struck me as big enough without being overbearing. Kinda like my ego (or so I'm told). Shaft drive means smooth ride, and given that Sabres are literally maintenance-free (just add gas and oil) and it was a great fit for the mechanically disinclined guy I am. I've become much more mechanically adept over the past few years, but I'm probably still just the 'tallest midget' in that regard.

Now, who the heck are you?

  3. cheetos have trans fats. that sounds unhealthy, yet i feel this ride is liberating, necessary and good for the soul.

    true?

did you also know that orange is the color of energy (not just that of the snack food). interesting parallel to the journey.

  4. Okay...you're freaking me out. But I'll play along...
Yes, there are trans fats in Cheetos. But I'll be traveling the "Trans-Canada" highway, so I think it's only fitting. Plus, it's Canada - so we won't need a TRANS-lator. And we'll probably see a few TRANS-ams.

And not only is orange an energy color, it's the fastest of all colors. Chicks dig it (why else would northern women slather on fake tan juice knowing it will turn them orange?), and lots of good things are orange, like orange slices, oranges, orange popsicles, carrots, um, um, um...(still working on this one)
