Correction to a news story about the GVA -important!

Countdown - 45 hours!

Earlier I posted a link to a story from The News-Sentinel about my big adventure. There was a slight error in their story, and I probably should clarify.

Cindy Larson mentioned getting "Hyderized" in Hyder, Alaska. Getting Hyderized is the tradition of having a shot of pure grain alcohol, getting your official "Hyderized" card signed by the bartender and surviving the walk back to your hotel (I don't recommend driving after such a feat).

I'll be getting my "Hyder on" at the Sealaska Inn where the walk will be quite short (I'm staying at this same Inn compliments of the fine staff there). Cindy got the name of the place mixed up with another in the town. This wouldn't be a big deal to most of us, but when you are running a hotel and bar in a town of less than 200 people, name recognition is a big deal.

Cindy's error is probably my fault. I was explaining what getting Hyderized is, and mentioned a YouTube video. It's probably from that video that the confusion sprang. Perhaps I'll shoot my "Hyderization" there and post it to YouTube so there can be representation of the Sealaska Inn on YouTube as well.

I do apologize for the error, and if I caused it I certainly meant no disrepect to the proprietors of the Sealaska Inn.

When you find yourself in Hyder, Alaska, make sure you visit the Sealaska Inn and say hello to Gary there! (And tell him I'm still sorry about the mix up!)
